If you’re starting a new career at home, or just needing to make your office space more functionable, here are some ideas to make it a little less mind blowing. Getting started is the hardest part, so I recommend with one area to narrow down your starting point. Tubs, boxes, or crates, are perfect items to use, to begin organizing office supplies, or equipment. Loose papers, files, clutter, or anything laying around can be a complete distraction when your trying to accomplish any type of work.
If you choose to sort with boxes, label them separately and clearly so it can be seen quickly. You can label the boxes, such as donate, throw away, recycle, etc.. Once those items are sorted out, the next step would be to clear everything else off, so it is easier to deep clean.

Color Coded
Make a filing system that works for you.
The easiest and fastest way I have found, is to file is by color coding. Of course, alphabetical order, numerical, by subject or category , will work just as well. Label makers are fun and an easy way to keep organized. They are easy to read, less messy, and quick to spot. Keep files coordinated throughout the filling system.
Utilize space as much as you can.
Whichever it may be, a large area that you are working with, or a side corner of a room, maximizing the work space is at the top of the list. Hang organization systems vertically, there are so many modern, and functional organizational decor that can actually help improve your work space. Incorporate multifunctional pieces, like ottomans that open up as storage, or bookcases that could be used for many purposes, not just organizing books. Closet space could be used to file paperwork.
Hide wires and make sure all clutter is cleared.
Nothing make’s a room more unattractive than a bunch of wires wadded up, ready to be tripped on, or just plane make you outright frustrated. Use a heavy duty staple gun to staple simple wires along the insides of a desk, and along the side of a wall. Maybe even under the floor covering as well. Use decorative pillows, vases, or baskets to hide the appearance of a messy wires. Zip ties can also be used in organizing cords, or those little things that can be grouped together.
Use message or bulletin boards
Using message boards, or bulletin boards, is a creative way to keep organized on the go. Filing papers, and mail along the way, will help reduce clutter that builds up over time. Stackable bins are useful to add as well as daily planners, they will reduce the amount of loose papers. Over all, use your imagination, and go with what works best for you!
